Due to the world's financial institutions being linked via the intense period of globalization occurring over the last decade - the crisis is affecting markets across the globe. Just last week, the Bush Administration proposed a bailout plan that now includes assistance to non U.S.-based institutions, which have significant activity within the U.S.
So what does this mean? It means a return to the original papers that set up the international financing agreements.
